On-campus military training stresses: inspiring the ethos to stimulate patriotism, enriching the military intelligence to accomplish the multi-education, instilling the martial art of military science to enhance the students‘ health , cultivating the good habits and virtues, laying a fundamental education for reserve officers of the Army, Navy and Air force, broadening students` field of vision, and building the grounds for national defense. In order to respond to the demand of present educational reformation and the reserve officer examination, and to increase students' motivation and interest, the Military training division of Ministry of Education has increased the youths' knowledge of national defense, military affairs, and national security by bestowing 6 fields of courses (national security, battle history, study of arms, national defense technique, theory of military affairs, nursing) Military training optional courses：

1.National security

       The main purpose of this course is to make students understand the correct concept and category of national defense, defense policy, comparison of every country's system, and the study of our national security's general problems. It is also to arouse students' knowledge of national security and to understand that the relation between national security and the nation, community, and the people's life and property is a major national and personal concern.

2.Military and battle history

       According to research, battle history can make students have basic knowledge of battle theory, concept, military terms, and key factors which affect victory and defeat. And then to make students realize the serious relation between battles and a nation's life and death, and also to arouse the consciousness of misery, to reach the consensus of the establishment of national defense.

3.Study of arms

       The purpose of this course is to make students understand the ideas of Chinese and western experts in study of arms and the style of famous generals. Principles of war and the army inspire students' interest in the study of arms. Furthermore, students'  knowledge of military affairs will grow the capability of strategy thinking, encourage brilliant leadership, and reach the skillful and ethical combination of civil and military.

4.National defense technique

       Every country in the world has competed to protect its own national security as the rapid progress in arms technology, which also affect the state of war. In the future warfare, only the ones who have the tactics of modern and global arms will dominate the battlefield. This course includes introductions of the marine, navy, air force, and nuclear weapons to give students general idea of national defense technique.

5.Theory of military affairs

       This course inspires students' interest on the study of military affairs. Furthermore, the study of military affairs is important, especially because of the current diverse social trend. After graduating from university and then entering the camp, students will usually find some hardship in adapting. This course gives the correct idea about how to manage, to be a staff officer, and about command procedure so students can adapt quickly to camp's life.

    In addition to the charge of teaching military training and nursing science, the Military Training Office co-operates with the Office of Student Affairs to deal with other matters as: shouldering on 24- hour- duty to help administrative affairs, visiting the student hospitalized for illness or accidents, consulting the dormitory autonomy, assistance for each department, supervising restaurant board, guiding off-campus lodging, handling the lost and found, taking the appeal from students` complaints, advocating the traffic safety, promoting the anti-drug and anti-smoking activities, implementing the orientation program for the freshman, performing the commencement ceremony for the senior, recommending excellent youth in good character and good academic performance, arranging the youth team who should share the duty in the war time, and selecting and training the reserve officer.
